Fix an upside-down PDF

Fed the stack in head-first? Drop the file below — every page arrives marked for a 180° flip, the thumbnails confirm it, one click saves it. This is the fastest fix on the site because there’s no direction to think about: upside down is upside down.

A 180° flip is also the fix for double-sided pages bound head-to-toe (“tumble” duplex) that were scanned as left-right pages — in that case, though, usually only every other page is inverted: click just the affected pages and the preset applies to them alone.

Preset: all pages marked for a 180° flip — adjust before saving.

How it works

  1. Drop your PDF — thumbnails preview every page flipped 180°.
  2. If only alternating pages are inverted (tumble duplex), click those pages, then hit 180°.
  3. Click “Save rotated PDF”.
  4. Download the corrected file — fixed for every viewer, not just yours.

Every other page upside down?

That’s the signature of tumble-bound duplex: the backs are printed head-to-toe relative to the fronts, so a duplex scanner emits alternating orientation. Click pages 2, 4, 6… on the grid (each picks up a check mark as you go), press 180°, save. Two minutes for a hundred-page file, and the thumbnails make it hard to get wrong.

If literally everything — including the alternating pattern — looks scrambled, the stack may also be in reverse order; fix rotation here first, then reverse the page order.

Frequently asked questions

My phone shows the PDF fine but my computer shows it upside down. Which is right?

Some mobile viewers silently auto-rotate to match the text direction; desktop viewers show the file as stored. If any standards-following viewer shows it upside down, the file is upside down — fix it here and it displays correctly everywhere.

Will the fix survive emailing and printing?

Yes. The orientation is part of the file itself, so recipients, print shops and archive systems all see the corrected version.

Only page 1 is upside down. Fastest route?

Click page 1’s thumbnail (selecting it clears the all-pages preset), press 180°, save. The other pages pass through untouched.
